The book of Hebrews establishes many important theological pillars for the church, especially the relationship of the New Testament to the old, the importance of the sanctuary, and the atonement. That wasn't its intended purpose, however. It just does all those things on the way to encouraging its audience to persevere in their walk with God so they can attain the final reward.
