There are a variety of resources needed to do serious exegesis in Biblical Hebrew. This includes lexicons, learning grammars, reference grammars, concordances, and Hebrew Bibles. Each section of this reader's guide describes a type of resource and provides some examples. |

The Energion.com Reader's Guide section is still under initial construction. Please be patient as we add resources and files. |

| Practical Grammar for Classical Hebrew | ||
![]() | Energion.com Description: An excellent introductory grammar for Biblical Hebrew, but with exercises that are a bit limited. I used this grammar as a student, and continued using it for my own teaching until I switched to the newer Basics of Biblical Hebrew Grammar (and its accompanying workbook were released. I prefer Weingreen's explanation of difficult issues of Hebrew grammar, but the Basics book is easier to read in many cases and includes some excellent exegetical insights. When we consider the Workbook as well, the combination is a better option.

| Basics of Biblical Hebrew Grammar | ||
![]() | Energion.com Description: This teaching grammar covers the basics of grammar necessary for exegesis and good reading skills in Biblical Hebrew, as well as providing a good basis for further study. I switched to this text from Weingreen's, and have been much more satisfied with the results. The exegetical insights are quite helpful in focusing the interest of the students and helping them understand why they are studying Biblical Hebrew. Teachers should be aware that the notes are from a conservative perspective. This is not for self-study, but I do recommend it, along with its accompanying workbook as a learning grammar.
