The Ditched Blonde
Adams, Harold. The
Ditched Blonde: A Carl Wilcox Mystery. New York: Walker and
Company, 1995.
ISBN: 0802732631.
The Carl Wilcox mysteries are set in the midwest in a slightly
vague time when folks still drove around in Model T's and one
could travel and work temporarily as a sign painter in small
towns. But Carl Wilcox, who never looks for trouble, yet always
seems to find it, has a reputation for solving mysteries. And
while people may not be ready to pay him directly to solve the
mysteries, they may find him a job that will pay him while he
does.
In The Ditched Blonde Wilcox is painting signs in
Greenhill, South Dakota, when he is asked, or perhaps it isn't
that direct, to help solve a four year old death. Genevieve was a
vivacious and slightly mysterious girl who was run over by a
car--twice. No solution was found at the time, yet now, four
years later, some folks hope that Wilcox can find an answer.
Others hope he won't.
