"Frequently when I'm teaching about Bible study, students ask how they can learn to understand the Bible for themselves and defend their understanding in discussion with others. I designed the participatory study method to help answer this question, starting at the simplest level of Bible study possible, but allowing growth into the most serious Biblical exegesis that the student desires. The outline of the method is available in our pamphlet, I Want to Study the Bible, our basic handout on Bible study. It is explained further in an appendix to To the Hebrews, and will be laid out in full in my forthcoming book Participating in Scripture.
This study guide to the book of Hebrews is designed for individual or small group studies. Its 13 lessons are ideal for Sunday School classes, small study or prayer groups and Wednesday evening studies. The guide is based on the participatory method, developed by author Henry Neufeld to help lay people learn to understand the Bible better.
Features:
- Clearly defined study method for individuals and groups.
- Basic lessons with graded additional study allow you to choose the time spent on your study
- References to study Bibles and standard reference materials
- Study of Old Testament quotations
- Glossary of terms used in Hebrews
- Background references
- Study questions and topics for discussion
- Translation and notes for reference

 | Energion.com Description: I'm the author of this book -- HN.
My intention in writing this book was to provide an outline for study that would work for individuals or small groups and would allow each person to decide how much time to put into the study. This is not a five minute a day book, but it is also not a college text. It is not a commentary; it is a guide to help you find your own understanding of the book of Hebrews. It is built around the participatory method of Bible study. There is space in the book for your own notes. |
