This collection of papers was created to celebrate the 40th
anniversary of the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls. It includes
input from a wide variety of scholars. It is divided into six
sections:
- Texts and Text Studies (7 Papers)
- The History of the Qumran Community (6 Papers)
- Halakha at Qumran (4 Papers)
- Qumran and the Hebrew Bible (5 Papers)
- Qumran and the New Testament (2 Papers)
- The Hebrew of the Dead Sea Scrolls (1 Paper)
The papers are at the scholarly and specialist levels and
assume a knowledge of Hebrew, as well as sometimes Aramaic and
Greek. They also assume an understanding of archeological
methods, textual criticism and other disciplines involved in
Biblical studies. In addition, three of the essays are printed in
French. For someone with the qualifications to make use of them,
however, this is an excellent collection of a broad range of
scholarly views on various aspects of scroll study.
